Two Arrested After Gunfire: New Haven PD
Two men were arrested after gunfire erupted in New Haven.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Two city men were arrested after gunfire erupted on Shelton Avenue July 21, according to police.
Police were called to the scene around 10:40 p.m. and spotted two men running from a nearby parking lot onto Dixwell Avenue. The two men split up as they ran from police. Christopher Standberry, 25, and Ticey Hayes, 26, were apprehended.
A 9mm handgun was recovered from where Hayes stood, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman. Hayes claimed the gun wasn't his. Marijuana was also confiscated.

An apartment building and vehicle were struck by gunfire, but no one was hit. Other law enforcement agents found a 16-gauge sawed-off shotgun on the driver's seat of a nearby Chevrolet Tahoe, but it's part in the incident remains unclear, Hartman said.
Hayes was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

Stanberry was charged with illegally operating a car under suspension and was served an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court.
More charges may be levied as police investigate.
