NEW HAVEN, CT —In the early hours Sunday, New Haven police responded to two separate shooting incidents resulting in multiple victims, according to New Haven police spokesperson Capt. Rose Dell.

The first was shortly after 1 a.m. on Sherman Avenue, where officers were dispatched after receiving a report of a person shot she said, and ShotSpotter also alerted to five gunshots in the area. When cops got there, they found two victims; a male with multiple gunshot wounds and a female with a graze to the head, Dell said.

Both were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where the female's injuries were determined to be non-life threatening and the male remains in critical but stable condition, police said.

Noting Major Crimes Unit and Bureau of Identification detectives gathered evidence and searched for potential witnesses.

Despite "extensive canvassing efforts, no witnesses" were located, Dell said, several outside video surveillance cameras were located and investigators are trying to get a hold of that footage, if any. They also found three fired cartridge casings at the crime scene.

In a separate incident at just before 5 a.m., officers responded to Yale-New Haven Hospital after
receiving a report of another shooting victim, Dell said. Before calling police, Yale-New Haven
Hospital Protective Services were told a man was sitting inside a silver Honda Accord
near where ambulances arrive. He was found suffering from a gunshot wound
and was immediately transported into the hospital for treatment, Dell said. His current condition is listed as serious but stable.

Less than an hour before, the NHPD ShotSpotter system alerted to the sound of six rounds in the 500 block of Ferry Street, Dell said. And a 911 caller also reported hearing approximately five gunshots in the same area, she said. Investigators found a single fired cartridge casing on the sidewalk near 500 Ferry St. Detectives responded to the scene, reviewed video surveillance footage, and collected additional evidence, as the investigation into these incidents continues, Dell said.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed these incidents or who may have
information valuable to investigators to call detectives at 203-946-6304 or through the
