'We're Closing Up Shop:' Patagonia To Shutter Downtown New Haven Store

Announced on social media, the environmentally-conscious CA-based outdoor gear/clothing store on Broadway, said Aug. 21 is its last day.

NEW HAVEN, CT —First opened in August 2017, five years later, the California-based outdoor gear and clothing store Patagonia will close its doors this month.

A soon former Shops at Yale anchor on Broadway, it was announced on Instagram that Aug. 21 will be its last day of business.

"Thank you, New Haven, for letting us be a part of the neighborhood the last few years. It’s been a wonderful time of community, events and conversations," the post reads.

It was only the second Connecticut location for the outfitter focused on sustainability says it's in "business to save our home planet." The company's mission is to make the "best product by limiting ecological impacts with goods that last for generations or can be recycled so the materials in them remain in use." It says its goals include causing "no unnecessary environmental harm," with environmental activism part of its mission.

With its closing, the store noted that between now and Aug. 21, people should "stop by to say goodbye and snag some sweet deals on products before we pack up shop."

Westport is home to the only other Patagonia location in CT.
