New Haven, CT - 'We’re still waiting,' New Haven police say in regards to a shooting victim.

On June 23, State police 911 forwarded a 911 call from the girlfriend of a man who’d been shot, police said. Officers were sent to an apartment at 202 Hamilton Street to speak with the twenty-seven year old victim, police said. He wasn’t there.

His girlfriend told police the shooting took place three days earlier, police said. She explained he’d told her he was heading to his cousin’s home on Franklin Street when he was confronted by two black men clad in dark clothing, police said.
The men allegedly tried robbing him and they began to struggle, police said. During the altercation, the gun fired and her boyfriend was shot in the hand, police said.

The woman said they called 911 but instead of waiting, decided to drive to the hospital, police said. PSAP (the city’s 911 center) reviewed the call. No caller reported a person shot –instead, a call was received reporting gunfire, police said.
Yale–New Haven Hospital confirmed the man had been treated for a gunshot wound at their St. Raphael’s campus on the 20th.
Detectives reached the victim by phone and set up an appointment for the 24th, Hartman said.
"The victim was a no-show. We’re still waiting," Hartman said.
