Woman Seriously Injured In Shooting In New Haven: Police

NEW HAVEN, CT — A woman was hospitalized after being seriously injured in a shooting Tuesday night in New Haven, according to police.

Police responded around 8:10 p.m. to a ShotSpotter activation of three rounds in the 500 block of Ferry Street, according to Captain Rose J. Dell.

Dell said arriving patrol officers found a female victim on Chatham Street, just past Ferry Street, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was immediately taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment, according to Dell.

The victim suffered serious injuries, but Dell said she was listed in stable condition as of Wednesday morning.

Investigators searched the parking lot on Chatham Street at Ferry Street and found seven fired cartridge casings in the area, according to Dell.

“To ensure a comprehensive investigation, officers secured the crime scene, and detectives promptly searched for witnesses and video surveillance,” Dell wrote in a news release. “Additionally, seven fired cartridge casings were collected as evidence.”
