Cops Probe Weekend Incidents: Woman's Body In River, 2 Shootings
Police said a 32-year-old woman's body was found in the Quinnipiac on Saturday and 2 separate weekend shootings left 4 hurt, 1 critically.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 32-year-old woman's body was found in the Quinnipiac River by the Tomlinson Bridge Saturday afternoon, police said. And, in two separate shooting incidents in the city, four people were victims of gunshot wounds, with one, a 20-year-old New Haven man, listed in critical condition, police said.
According to New Haven police spokesperson officer Scott Shumway, just before 9 p.m. Friday night, police got a Shotspotter alert of gunfire on Kimberly Avenue, between Howard Avenue and Lamberton Street. When police got there, they found a 20-year-old New Haven man struck by gunfire. A short time later, Shumway said, officers found a second victim, a 41-year-old New Haven woman also struck by gunfire. Both were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where the man was treated for life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition, and the woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was listed in stable condition.
On Saturday, police were alerted to a body found in the Quinnipiac River. Police and the New Haven fire department responded. The 32-year-old woman was pronounced dead by firefighters.

On Sunday at around 3:40 p.m., police got a Shotspotter alert for gunfire, and then 911 calls about person being shot, on Columbus Avenue, between West and Redfield streets. When cops got there they found two victims; a 61-year-old New Haven man and a 39-year-old New Haven woman, both struck by gunfire. They were taken to the hospital by American Medical Response where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Shumway said.
