Yale IDs Officer Involved In Shooting
Police officers from Yale and Hamden who fired their weapons have been identified.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Yale University Police have identified Officer Terrance Pollock as one of two officers who fired their guns during an early Tuesday morning incident that left a 22-year-old woman with a gunshot wound.
Pollock is a 16-year veteran of the department. Per protocol he has been placed on leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
"Yale police officers are trained to interact with community members in a respectful and professional manner," the university said in a statement. "Many of our officers are from the New Haven community, and all of them take great pride in how they engage with the community, both on and off duty."

WTNH reports that Pollock was injured during the gunfire, but it's unclear how he was injured.
The other officer involved is Hamden Officer Devin Eaton. Eaton has been with Hamden's force since 2016 and before that was a New Haven officer for a little over a year.

State Police and the State's Attorney's office are investigating the officer-involved shooting.
The incident started early Tuesday morning when Hamden Police got a 911 call about a newspaper delivery man being robbed at a Hamden gas station on Arch Street by a suspect in a red Honda Civic, said State Police Trooper Josue Dorelus, police spokesman.
A vehicle matching the description was found near Dixwell Avenue and Argyle Street.
Multiple officers arrived and attempted to box the vehicle in and officers gave instructions to the driver on how to exit the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle exited abruptly and turned towards officers, Dorelus said.
However, some are questioning the preliminary report after video surveillance of part of the incident was released.
Eaton and Pollock fired their weapons. A bullet hit Stephanie Washington, 22, who was seated in the front passenger seat. She was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening wounds.
