
95 YEAR OLD IWO JIMA SURVIVOR PAID TRIBUTE TO ALL THOSE WHO SERVED AND DIED IN THE BATTLE OF IWO JIMA!
The event took place this Thursday (May 18) at 12:30 p.m. at the Memorial in Newington.
George Caron is a 95 year-old Iwo Jima Survivor, Marine, 4th Division, and is one of the original Survivors who raised the funds and helped build the National Iwo Jima Memorial in Newington. He and his wife, Lois, have purchased a custom made, 48-star flag to replace the old, worn out flag presently on the monument flag pole. There was a ceremonial changing of the flag by the Newington Fire Department and he, his wife and other family members were a part of this event.
