Man Charged With Wife's Murder in Newington

He is being held in lieu of $2 million bond in connection with the Sept. 21 homicide.

NEWINGTON, CT — A local man was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging him with murdering his wife inside their home three weeks ago.

Michael Torbicki, Jr., 45, is accused of shooting his wife, Patricia, to death inside their home at 52 Gilbert Road on Sept. 21, police said. Bond was set at $2 million, and he is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.

Patricia Torbicki, 46, was found dead inside the front door of the house around 9 a.m. Her husband was found suffering from serious injuries, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

A "flurry of activity" was reported around the house at the time of the crime, with neighbors being told to stay inside their homes.

According to Patti Torbicki's obituary, she was a claims and membership specialist at New England Health Care Employees Welfare Fund, and a Sunday School teacher at Mill Pond Church.
