Newington Icon To Be Honored
The late Newell A. Stamm, long-time Newington businessman and 30-year veteran of the Newington Volunteer Fire Department will be honored.
From the Utility Contractors Association of Connecticut: The Utility Contractors Association of Connecticut will honor the late Newell A. Stamm at their Annual Scholarship Dinner on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at The Gallery in Glastonbury. All are invited to attend and remember Newell as we award our 2019 scholarships.
New for 2019, UCAC will award both the traditional UCAC General Scholarship(s) and the all new UCAC Foundations Scholarship, created exclusively to promote the education of a deserving student interested in the pursuit of the trades, engineering or construction management. Each year, we will present The UCAC Foundations Scholarship in honor or memory of an individual who has contributed to UCAC, the industry and the community in a meaningful way.
It is with great pride that the members of UCAC name the 2019 UCAC Foundations Scholarship in the name of Newell A. Stamm and we will honor his memory at this special event.

About Newell A. Stamm (1927-2018)
Newell A. Stamm was a founding member and past president (1979-1981) of UCAC and co-owner of Stamm Construction in Newington. He was also a firefighter with the Newington Volunteer Fire Department for over thirty years and a commissioner of the Metropolitan District. Newell was chosen as the 1988 businessperson of the year by the Newington Chamber of Commerce. He was well known in the utility construction industry in Connecticut but even moreso he was respected as a businessman and cherished as a friend.
