Teenagers Arrested After Abandoning Stolen Vehicles in Newington
A pair of stolen vehicles were found on the Berlin Turnpike early Friday morning.

NEWINGTON, CT — A pair of teenagers who had been reported missing from a juvenile residential facility in Hamden were arrested early Friday morning in Newington after police discovered a pair of stolen vehicles on the Berlin Turnpike.
Around 2:55 a.m., Newington police officers located an unoccupied, disabled motor vehicle in a snowbank in the area of 3377 Berlin Turnpike. During an investigation, they located a second unoccupied vehicle in close proximity to the first, at the entrance to a private business driveway, police said.
Shortly thereafter, officers located two juvenile males walking along the Berlin Turnpike. They were detained and further investigation revealed they had fled the vehicles, which were determined to be stolen from South Windsor and New Haven. Additionally, the pair were reported missing from a juvenile residential facility out of Hamden, police said.

The teenagers were arrested for two counts of third-degree larceny and two counts of conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny. They are scheduled to appear in New Haven Juvenile Court.
