$13,000 in Cash Seized After New London Motor Vehicle Stop
Police said they also found three pounds of marijuana in the car.
The New London Police Patrol Division conducted a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation at approximately 10:39 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, and seized early three pounds of marijuana, $13,000 in cash and a 2010 Acura, according to New London Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard.
The patrol division was assisted by members of the state of CT Parole Office and the town of Groton Police Department’s K9 unit, who helped in the search and location of the marijuana.

Alberto Santana, 30, of Cliff Street, New London
- Possession of over four ounces of marijuana

- Held in lieu of $50,000 bond
Miguel Hernandez, 29, of Nob Hill Road, New London

Danny Vega, 30, of Route B Route 163, Montville

Vega’s bond was set at $150,000 but he was remanded to custody of the state of Connecticut Department of Corrections because he is out on active parole for manslaughter.
According to Reichard, Vega was convicted of manslaughter in the 2005 shooting death of Raul Melendez at the Famous Barbershop on Jefferson Avenue in New London, in 2005.
