 the drypoint printmaking process from start to finish! Features an 
introduction to the printing press (certification for members)
This beginner-friendly class
 is an introduction to drypoint, an engraving method where an image is 
drawn into a printing plate with sharp tools. No chemicals are needed to
 create beautiful intaglio prints that can range from precise and 
delicate to bold and graphic. This class will take you through the 
entire process of creating and printing drypoints from a plastic plate. 
You’ll learn how to prepare the plate, use the tools, ink, and print on 
an etching press.
Please come prepared with a 5 x 7 image that you will trace over using a sharp tool. The image will be created using a series of lines, so keeping it simple will allow enough time to complete the whole process during class time.

Make a handmade set of hardwood coasters in this two-part woodshop class. 2-Parts Monday 8/3 &amp; 8/10 , 5-8p.
Create
 a beautiful handmade set of hardwood coasters while building your 
woodworking skills! In this two-session workshop, students will learn 
the process of wood lamination by combining different hardwood strips 
into a unique patterned design.
Participants will glue up their 
pieces, flatten and resaw their material, then shape and prepare their 
coasters for finishing. By the end of class, each student will leave 
with a completed set of eight coasters (or two sets of four) and finish 
to apply at home.
Along the way, students will gain hands-on 
experience with key woodshop tools and techniques. Spark members who 
demonstrate safe and confident use may receive certifications on the 
jointer, planer, bandsaw, and router table.
No prior woodworking experience required. All materials included.

Two-Day Beginner Workshop!
This
 is a perfect project for those with little or no experience working 
with stained glass. You will construct a colorful art glass strip panel 
up to 12 inches long, suitable for hanging in a window. You will be 
taught the techniques of the copper foil method of construction and 
learn to score, grind, foil, solder, frame and finish the entire piece 
in this 2-day workshop.

Meet Our Juror: Todd Gipstein Award-winning photographer, writer, producer, and lecturer Todd Gipstein brings more than 50 years of experience in visual storytelling. A Harvard graduate, Todd spent decades with National Geographic, traveling the world creating acclaimed productions on culture, history, nature, and photography. His work has earned more than 40 Gold Awards, numerous international honors, and a place in the Association for Multi-Media International Producers Hall of Fame. He also collaborated with Vice President Al Gore on the media presentation that evolved into the Academy Award-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth. We're honored to have Todd serve as this year's juror. All artists participating can submit their work in person at the Hygienic Art Gallery on August 20th &amp; August 21st from Noon to 7 PM. will learn the basics of relief printing. We will explore types of 
carving blocks, inks, and papers, and you will learn how to prepare your
 carving block, transfer your design, and carve and ink the block. You 
will make several prints, both by handprinting and using the printing 
press. (After this class, members will be certified to use the press for
 relief printing.)
Please read through the relief printing handout (found<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZIdbivWF_zVy7_nQBSp9lS8wLMfvIbBH/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> here</a>) before class, and bring a simple design no larger than 5x8 inches.
