17-Year-Old Girl's Death Under Investigation In New London: Police

The girl was pronounced dead after she was found unresponsive in a home near Jefferson Avenue and Buchanan Road, according to police.

NEW LONDON, CT — Police are investigating the death of a 17-year-old girl after she was found unresponsive in a New London home Saturday.

New London police said officers were called to a home in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Buchanan Road shortly before 3:10 a.m. When police and fire personnel arrived, they found the girl and took her to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Two other people inside the home were also taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening, authorities said.

Police did not specify the nature of the injuries or what caused the girl's death. Authorities also did not release her name.

The New London County States Attorney's Office, the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are assisting with the investigation.
