2 Charged In Connection To New London Shooting: Police
Two men from New Britain and Norwich are facing charges following a shooting that injured a victim over the weekend, according to police.
NEW LONDON, CT — Two men have been arrested in connection to a shooting over the weekend. Police responded Sunday at 3:33 a.m. for a person shot in the area of Golden Street and Union Street.
When officers arrived, a Chevy Silverado pickup truck attempted to elude police, who pursued the truck. The pursuit continued through city streets and onto Boston Post Road in Waterford near the area of Wildrose Avenue.
The truck suffered a mechanical failure during the chase. The truck came to a stop and the front-seat passenger, who police later identified as Carlos Figueroa, 28, of New Britain, ran from the truck, away from officers.

The truck's driver, Christopher Soto-Marrero, 28, of Norwich, was also taken into custody.
Police at the scene confirmed the report of a shooting. The victim had been driven to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital prior to police's arrival. The victim, a 32-year-old man, suffered a non-life-threatening injury and is in stable condition.

Police said the crime did not occur during Sailfest, an event in Downtown New London over the weekend. The incident did not appear to be a random act, according to police.
Figueroa was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, possession of an extended magazine, and interfering with police. He was held on $250,000 cash/surety bond.
Soto-Marrero was charged with reckless driving, engaging in pursuit, operating without a license, and interfering with police. He was held on $100,000 cash/surety bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
