2 Firefighters Hospitalized Following New London Blaze

NEW LONDON, CT — Two firefighters were injured and seven people were displaced in a fire that broke out early Monday morning, according to fire officials.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at an Eastern Avenue multifamily building at 3:59 a.m.

A large fire had broken out on the first and second floors of a three-floor apartment building. All seven people safely evacuated the building, according to fire officials.

The fire caused significant damage throughout the building, leading all residents to be displaced.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries. They were taken to the hospital, treated, and later released.

The New London Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
