2 Large Apartment Complexes Proposed In New London
Plans for two apartment buildings with 500 units in Fort Trumbull are under review. A public hearing on the project is coming up this week.
NEW LONDON, CT — The Planning Zoning Commission will hear from developers proposing 500 apartments in two buildings in Fort Trumbull at a Wednesday meeting.
Developer RJDA Fort Trumbull AA, LLC is proposing one multi-family building with 251 units on Nameaug Street and another building 249 units on Walbach Street.
The developer is also proposing the construction of a 1,200-space parking garage on East Street.

The city sold the three properties to developers for $500,001 in January, The Day reported. Several parcels on the Fort Trumbull peninsula have been vacant for nearly two decades.
City officials said new housing is in high demand. Construction on the Nameaug Street complex could begin within the year, according to The Day.
