3rd New London Schools Employee Arrested In Sexual Assault Case

A schools employee is facing charges of failure to report in an ongoing investigation.

NEW LONDON, CT - Police said they have arrested a third suspect in an ongoing investigation of New London school district employees in connection with a sexual assault case. Melissa Rodriguez, 35, of 59 Sunset View, Griswold, was charged with failure to report as a mandated reporter.

She was released on $10,000 bond and will appear in court June 11.

Rodriguez was an employed at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School.

The New London Day reported that Rodriguez, when she was known by a different name, was previously convicted on charges in relation to a mortgage fraud scheme. She served nine months in federal prison in 2012 and was ordered to pay $622,993 in restitution.

Another employee at the same middle school, Corriche Gaskin, 34, a climate specialist, was arrested on sexual assault and child pornography charges.

A second employee, Jevon Elmore, 25, of 905 Bank St., was also charged with second-degree sexual assault. Elmore was hired as a paraprofessional in the district.

Since the beginning of the investigation, several other school employees have been suspended. The investigation remains ongoing.
