The Bulletin Joins Forces with WFSB-TV to Enhance Local News Coverage of Eastern Connecticut

The Bulletin and WFSB-TV, Channel 3, announced today that they are joining forces to enhance local news coverage of eastern Connecticut. The new partnership will spotlight important issues throughout the region to bring more attention to the community and act as a conduit for progress and change.

Newspaper and television journalists report important news stories by finding and balancing sources, seeking out experts, and uncovering trends and developments that impact quality of life.  In recent years, there has been a major shift in the way news is reported as technology becomes more and more sophisticated.  By working together, The Bulletin and WFSB-TV will combine resources to generate statewide attention to issues affecting eastern Connecticut.  Some topics will include:

 Education News – a fuller look at what’s happening in eastern Connecticut’s schools including academic, cultural arts and athletic programs

 Business and Labor News – designed to support and spotlight the region’s business community.  Reporters will be able to focus more intensely on development projects and incentives that help create jobs, and cover workplace issues that employees face

 Healthcare Issues – to improve the health and well-being of residents throughout the region

“The Bulletin is thrilled to launch this exciting partnership with WFSB-TV,” said Paul Provost, Publisher.  “By working together with Channel 3, we will be able to combine our resources to bring statewide awareness to important issues that matter deeply to residents and businesses in eastern Connecticut.  This is a win-win situation for both news organizations,” Provost added.

WFSB-TV Vice President/General Manager Klarn DePalma said the partnership will bolster each organization’s news divisions.

“Working together, we will only strengthen our commitment to our viewers and the towns in that region,” he said. “Both of our staffs have a commitment to providing Norwich and neighboring communities with the best news, weather and sports coverage possible.”

“It’s going to let a statewide audience know what’s going on here, and just adds extra resources by combining our efforts that will help the viewer and reader understand issues around here,” added Kevin Hogan, WFSB New London County Bureau Chief. “We’ve on several occasions put our minds together tackling stories. It just helps each of us tell a better story.”
