Apartments Planned For Collapsed Church Site In New London: Report

Market rate and affordable apartments could be built at the site of the massive collapse of a historic church, according to a report.

NEW LONDON, CT — A non-profit organization plans to build apartments at the site of the massive collapse of a historic church in downtown New London in January, according to The Day.

The Day reports the Eastern Connecticut Housing Opportunities group is expected to finalize the purchase of the property at 66 Union St. next week.

Plans, which are still in the conceptual phase, call for both market rate apartments and affordable units to be built at the site, along with potential commercial space, according to The Day.
