The put two scoreless wins on the board on Wednesday, as both the men's and women's teams defeated . Each team has had one loss in four games. The men lost 2-1 against the Merchant Marine Academy last Saturday, while the women's team lost a 1-0 season opener against Albertus Magnus College. Men's Soccer: Coast Guard 5, Mitchell 0
Senior Brett Godiksen had his first career hat trick, all in the second half, leading host Coast Guard to a 5-0 win over crosstown rival Mitchell in a non-conference game.
Godiksen, who entered the season with just one career goal, increased his team-leading total to five this season.
Coast Guard which is now a perfect 7-0 vs. Mitchell in the all-time series improves to 3-1 on the season while the Mariners saw their three-game unbeaten streak to start the season snapped as they fell to 2-1-1.
The Bears, who scored just 12 goals in 17 games last season, have already found the back of the net ten times in the 2011 season.
Sophomore John Rendon scored the first goal of his career in the 21st minute, the only scoring in the first half as the Bears led 1-0 at halftime.
Godiksen scored in the 50th, 53rd , and 64th minute in the second half for the Bears, who dominated the play in both halves. Rendon assisted on Godiksen’s first two goals while freshman Conor Regan, got his first career assist on his third and final goal.
Sophomore Nate Borders tallied his first career goal in the 79th minute with sophomore Juan Fitzpatrick picking up his first career assist to close the scoring.
Coast Guard outshot Mitchell 29-4 including 19-3 in the second half.
Sophomore Carlos Gonzalez, making his collegiate debut, made three saves to register the shutout while senior Kevin Woodford had seven saves in the first 66 minutes and freshman Ramazan Sinani added three saves in the final 24 minutes for the Mariners.

Women's Soccer: Coast Guard 3, Mitchell 0
Three different players scored as host Coast Guard won its third straight game for the first time in eight years with a 3-0 win over Mitchell in a non-conference game between the crosstown rivals.
The Bears improve to 3-1 while Mitchell drops to 1-1 on the young season. The 3-1 record is the second best start in school history. Coast Guard started 4-1 in 2000, the first year of the women’s soccer program.
Coast Guard scored the only goal of the first half in the 30th minute when freshman Holly Moore scored her first career goal. The ball ricocheted off of Moore and past Mitchell goal keeper Kaylee Woodford.
Senior Shannah Shelton blasted a shot from outside the 18 just under the cross bar in the 50th minute with classmate Brittany Fifer assisting to make the score 2-0.
Freshman Elyse Bobczynski closed the scoring with a goal from the top of the 18 in the 62nd minute.
Senior Mary Mills did not need to make a save to record her second consecutive shutout of the season for the Bears while Woodford had five saves for the Mariners.
