Board Approves Closure Of Elementary School In New London: Reports

NEW LONDON, CT — The New London Board of Education voted to close C.B. Jennings International Elementary Magnet School at a recent meeting, according to WFSB 3-TV.

The unanimous decision comes as the district is facing a $6 million budget gap, and the move will reduce that number by half.

The closure will take effect next school year, WFSB 3-TV reported.

During the next month, school staff will meet with affected families and give them the choice to enroll their kids in one of the district's two remaining magnet pathways, WTNH News-8 reported.

Families who don't choose those pathways will be moved to the district's two other elementary schools.
