Budget Repealed By New London Council: Report

The council plans to vote on a scaled-back spending plan next week.

NEW LONDON, CT — The City Council has repealed its general government budget in response to a citizens’ petition that called for either a citywide referendum or a reduction to the budget, the New London Day reported. The council plans to vote on a scaled-back spending plan Monday.

According to the Day, some signed the petition because they were unhappy elements of a pay-as-you-throw trash removal program were included in the budget. City officials have since delayed a final decision on the program.
