Kalmar Nyckel Public Sails – New London
Step aboard Kalmar Nyckel, the Tall Ship of Delaware, for a memorable 2½-hour sailing adventure on Long Island Sound. Guests are invited to help raise the sails, haul lines, hear tales from the volunteer crew, or simply relax and enjoy the experience aboard an authentic replica of the 1638 Swedish flagship. Advance reservations are recommended.

Stained Glass Strip Panels: 2-day workshop for beginners at Spark Makerspace on Saturday 8/8 &amp; Sunday 8/9, 10-3p.
Two-Day Beginner Workshop!
This
 is a perfect project for those with little or no experience working 
with stained glass. You will construct a colorful art glass strip panel 
up to 12 inches long, suitable for hanging in a window. You will be 
taught the techniques of the copper foil method of construction and 
learn to score, grind, foil, solder, frame and finish the entire piece 
in this 2-day workshop.
All materials included.
Be sure to bring your lunch with you. There will not be enough time to get food off-site. Please note: sufficient
 hand dexterity and the ability to stand while working with tools are 
required. There will be a class break; bringing a snack/lunch is 
encouraged. Closed-toed shoes must be worn.
 This class is made possible by the support of The Dime Bank Foundation and Charter Oak Federal Credit Union.

We Met at Grossinger’s is an immersive journey through the Jewish Catskills—once known as the Borscht Belt—reviving the iconic resort that inspired Dirty Dancing and defined an era of Jewish American life and entertainment.
Throughout decades of prejudice stifling the integration of Jewish immigrants in America, the Borscht Belt in the Catskills provided an oasis of belonging, and Grossinger’s Resort and Hotel was the crown jewel. The real-life inspiration for the setting of the 1987 classic film Dirty Dancing, Grossinger’s provided both a physical and mental getaway where Jews—and others from marginalized communities—needing a break from NYC could relax.
The resort’s growing reputation attracted a wide variety of comedians, athletes, and political figures, including Mel Brooks, Jerry Seinfeld, Jackie Robinson and Eleanor Roosevelt.

Deans Mill Farm 

Built in the mid-1700s as a functioning livestock farm, Deans Mill Farm has gone through an evolution in recent decades. A full renovation of the historic buildings and rejuvenation of the surrounding 70+ acres has made the property into the incredible venue it is today. Deans Mill Farm now operates primarily as a private event space and five-room bed and breakfast tucked down a private road in Stonington, Connecticut. It shares its property with Dragonfly Equestrian Center and is home to dozens of horses. On the property lies meadows, hiking trails, beautiful fields and Dragonfly Disc Golf. The property can be rented for weddings, birthday parties and other special events. Additionally, the bed and breakfast can be rented by the room or reserved in its entirety for complete privacy.
