Mitchell College and the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut will host a Business Breakfast on Workplace AI Readiness, Thursday, Nov. 12, 8 to 10 a.m. This free interactive event for small- and medium-sized businesses takes place in The Red Barn at Mitchell College. Facilitators review case studies and lead participant assessments on AI readiness. Attendee feedback shapes a future pilot program.

Create a single-color linocut and print it on four flour-sack tea towels. Perfect to use at home or to gift to others!
This beginner-friendly class is
 an introduction to the relief process, the technique used in the oldest
 forms of printmaking. We will explore types of carving blocks, inks, 
and papers, and you will learn how to transfer your design and carve and
 ink the block. You will then handprint three tea towels.&nbsp;
Please read through the relief printing handout (found<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZIdbivWF_zVy7_nQBSp9lS8wLMfvIbBH/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> here</a>)
 before class. Several autumn-themed patterns will be available for you 
to choose from, or you can bring your own. Simple patterns with thicker 
lines and no fine details will allow you to focus on the fundamentals of
 printmaking and ensure that you have plenty of time to design and print
 your tea towels.&nbsp;

This two-part class is Wednesday, November 11th, 6-7:30p, and Thursday, November 12th, 6-8:30p at Spark Makerspace, 7 Union St., New London, CT.
Learn
 how to Screen Print at Spark! We'll take you through the whole process 
of creating a one-color print, and you'll take home prints of your own 
design! This class covers successful design elements, creating the 
screen using the photographic process, printing on fabric and paper, and
 how to reuse your silkscreen.
For Members, this class will certify you to use the screen-printing equipment independently.
This class is intended for students ages 14+.

Call for Artists/Artisans: Receiving Thursday, November 12th and Friday, November 13th from 12-7pm. All works must be priced to be especially affordable for the holiday season. Items should be priced under $100 each (affordable gift-giving in mind) and suggested in multiples (minimum series of 4). For example, a series is a set of like-items (i.e. series of 4+ scarves or a series of 4+ wooden bowls). Items within a series do not need to be exactly the same. Hygienic Art will retain a 30% commission on all sales of artwork during the show. Artists will receive the remaining 70%. Art=Gift includes a wide array of exquisite art including, but not limited to: Paintings, Prints, Photography, Glass Art, Jewelry, Hand-printed T-shirts, Knitted Garments, Drawings, Wood-Turning, Holiday Cards, and Ornaments.

Learn how to create your own custom wooden picture frame! No prior woodworking experience is required.
Learn how to frame your fine art in a custom wooden frame. Students will start with a hardwood board and turn it into an 8 x 10 picture frame to take home.
Students will use the router table to create the frame profile, then use table saw jigs to create accurate miter joints. After gluing the frame, students will reinforce the frame corners, cut plexiglass and backer board, and finish sand the frame.
Students will take home all the supplies required to put a protective finish on the frame, install a picture, and hang the frame on the wall.
Spark Members: This class does not include any tool certifications.
No prior woodworking experience is required.

This beginner-friendly class is an introduction to the relief process, the technique used in the oldest forms of printmaking. You will handprint the block on two 20” x 29” sheets of kraft paper and a card.
