College of Brockport Eliminates Mitchell In Postseason Baseball
Mariners close out season with 10-0 loss

The 2011 Mitchell College baseball season came to a close on Thursday with a 10-0 sweep by the College of Brockton. The following information was provided by David Longolucco, sports information director at Mitchell College:
Mitchell College’s season came to an end on Thursday afternoon as the College of Brockport eliminated the Mariners, 10-0, on the second day of play at the 2011 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Auburn (NY) Regional at Falcon Park.
Mitchell finished the season with an overall record of 23-11-1. Brockport held the Mariners to only three hits and became the first team to post a shutout against Mitchell this season. Freshman Anthony Santiago (Newark, N.J./Bloomfield Tech) finished with two hits while senior Jeff Perillo (Newington, Conn./Newington) picked up the other.
Brockport scored runs in each of the first three innings to lead 4-0 after three. The game was interrupted in the middle of the fifth inning by a 95-minute rain delay. Mitchell managed only one hit over the final five innings but missed out on several chances to score.
Brockport finished with 15 hits in the contest and stole eight bases. Mitchell also committed four errors in the field.
Starting pitcher Jon Blair (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) lasted 3.1 innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and struck out two while walking four. Senior Paul Martinez (New London, Conn./New London) threw 5.2 innings of relief and gave up six runs (four earned) on nine hits and struck out five.
