Colorado Man Arrested in New London Pleads Guilty to Enticement of a Minor

The suspect has been detained since January after being arrested on related state charges in New London.

NEW LONDON, CT - A Colorado man plead guilty Tuesday to enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.

In January, Nathaniel Smith, 29 of Aurora, Colorado, used his cell phone and internet-based messaging and video chatting services to entice a 13-year-old female to engage in sexual activity. Services used by the suspect included Kik and Skype, according to a release.

Smith has been detained since Jan. 25, when he was arrested on related state charges in New London.

Judge Shea scheduled sentencing for April 7, 2017. Smith faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum term of imprisonment of life.

This matter is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New London Police Department and the Connecticut State Police.
