Conn College Sailors Take Sixth In Championship

Camels win tiebreaker against Brown

Sailors from Connecticut College took part in a regional championship on Sunday, placing sixth out of 18 teams. The following information was provided by William Tomasian, sports information director at Connecticut College:

The Connecticut College women's sailing team visited the Empire State this weekend to compete in the Atlantic Coast Championship at SUNY-Maritime. The Camels, ranked #2 in the latest Sailing World Magazine national ranking presented by Sperry Top-Sider, won a tie-breaker with Brown University to place sixth in the 18 team field with a score of 215 points.

Yale University scored 181 points to win the Atlantic Coast Crown in a tie-breaker with the University of Rhode Island. The Big Green from Dartmouth College finished just one point behind the leaders in third place with 182 points.

Seniors Bitsy Whipple, Katie St. George and Claire Sacco teamed up for an eighth place finish in the A division with 126 points. In the B division, sophomore skipper Atlantic Brugman, Eliza Price, Claire Sacco and Grace Medley tallied 89 points in a third place finish for the Camels.
