NEWINGTON, Conn. – Beginning April 30, The Connecticut Humane Society (CHS) will extend its weekend hours to better meet the needs of individuals and families who are unable to visit the organization’s shelters during the work/school week.
“We are extending our weekend hours to make it easier for people who are interested in adopting to visit our shelters and meet the animals we have available for adoption,” said Gordon Willard, CHS executive director.

To allow for the increase in weekend hours, CHS will reduce its shelter hours on Wednesdays. This change was based on an evaluation of peak visit times, according to Willard.
The new shelter hours in Newington, Waterford and Westport EFFECTIVE April 30 are:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday: Noon to 5:30 p.m.
The Fox Memorial Clinic hours will remain Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 9:00 am – 5 pm and
Wednesday: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm.
The Connecticut Humane Society is the leading resource in the state for companion animal welfare, enriching the lives of families and communities through adoption services, medical care, education, and prevention of cruelty.
