District 10 Baseball 11-12

The Groton Vs. New London 11-12 All Star game started out as any other game Saturday at Washington Park in Groton with the players all "pumped to play".

Kyle Egan started on the mound for Groton, and went 5 complete innings, giving up just 1 hit with 3 walks, 8 K's and allowing 1 earned run.
Robert Otanez started on the mound for New London in the first inning, and went 6 2/3 innings giving up  5 hits, zero walks and 11 K's and allowing 1 earned run.

The game was tight and tough through 3 complete innings, until New London scored in the 4th when Elijah Morton hit a triple to start the inning, two batters later Robert Otanez hit a ball to Second base to score Elijah on a fielder's choice. Groton then came to bat, Chip Kamercia was able to reach first with a single, followed by Kyle Egan hitting a single and a pair of Stolen bases, made it runners at 2nd and 3rd for Groton. Chip Kamercia was caught trying to advance on a passed ball at home to tie the score, but Kyle was quick to advance to 3rd to put the pressure on yet again. Noah Bautista then drove a ball deep to center, which was caught by Anthony Rivera, on a Sac fly to tie the game.
The score remained 1-1 through the next 7 innings. Solid defensive plays and strikeouts from both teams made for quick nerve racking innings and replacement pitchers coming in for both teams as pitch counts took their toll, there was nothing either team could do. Top of the 11th New London's Steve Cantres hit a single, and with a error and a pass ball found himself on 3rd. Chip Kamercia was unaffected though and relied on his team, as he had a ball hit to him for the 1st out, then a Strike out, followed by a diving catch by Kyle Egan in center field to end the inning stranding Steve on 3rd.
Chris Medina came in for New London on the hill in the 7th, and pitched 4 2/3 innings for New London allowing 3 hits, 2 walks, 8 K's and allowed 1 earned run.
Chip Kamercia took the mound in the top of the 6th, and went 5 2/3 innings for Groton allowing just 3 hits, ZERO walks, 10 K's and NO RUNS.  In the 11th inning with Chip reaching his max pitch count, Sammy Lambert was called in to pitch, and went the rest of the way of 1 1/3 innings allowing no hits, no walks, no K's but most importantly.... NO RUNS.

The Bottom of the 12th saw Groton start with Jack McDowell reaching on a walk, Cameron Aldinger reaching on a defensive error allowing the lead base runner to advance to 3rd. A strikeout and defensive indifference allowed runners to end up at 2nd and 3rd. Thomas Wagner then pulled a single over the first baseman's head to knock in the winning run.
The game was GREAT for both teams, and a pleasure to watch. 12 innings were completed in just 3 HRS.
This game will be remembered by ALL.

As a fan and the President of the New London Little League all I can say is I am proud of the effort put forth by the team.
