Dolphins Bottle Up Mariners
Mitchell College loses 9-4 to College o Mount Saint Vincent in men's lacrosse game

Mitchell College's men's lacrosse team couldn't recover from an early surge by the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Thursday and lost 9-4 in a home game. The following information was provided by David Longolucco, sports information director at Mitchell College:
The Dolphins (6-4 overall) outscored the Mariners 9-1 in the first half en route to the victory. Matt Desimone (Congers, N.Y./Clarkstown North) led MSV with four goals and Dan Cohen (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) added three while Ahmed Ajao (Brooklyn, N.Y./Frederick Douglas) tallied four assists.
Mount Saint Vincent scored just 1:13 into the contest and outscored the Mariners 5-0 in the opening quarter. Desimone found the back of the net three times in the stanza, all off feeds from Ajao.

Mitchell (1-5 overall) finally got on the board with 6:50 remaining in the half. Sophomore Demetre Lyras (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) scored a man-up goal to cut the deficit to 5-1, but the Dolphins closed out the period with four straight goals to take a 9-1 lead into the break. Desimone started the stretch with his fourth goal—again off an assist from Ajao—and Cohen wrapped things up with the final two scores of the half.
While the Mitchell defense didn’t allow a goal in the second half, the MSV side was nearly as stingy. The Mariners outscored the Dolphins 3-0 over the final 30 minutes, but it wasn’t nearly enough to climb back into the game. Senior Adam Grillo (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) scored two goals in the stanza while freshman Nicholas Gresio (Commack, N.Y./Commack) added the final tally with 4:49 remaining in the contest.
