Enrollment Fair Taking Place This Weekend In New London

HARTFORD, CT – Access Health CT CEO Jim Wadleigh and Representative Joe Courtney (CT-2) announced Wednesday the details of the third enrollment fair during the 2018 Open Enrollment period. The event will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New London Opportunities Industrialization Center (106 Truman Street).

During the fair, a team of Access Health CT staff, enrollment specialists, certified application counselors and brokers will provide free in-person assistance to help consumers shop for healthcare coverage, according to a release.

Open Enrollment for coverage beginning January 1, 2018 will end on Dec. 22, 2017. Customers who don’t have coverage through AHCT can shop for a new plan, and those who do are encouraged to explore and compare 2018 plan options to renew.

People need to update their application information, and compare the plans for 2018 to find the best fit for their healthcare needs. Over 50,000 people from New London County enrolled in healthcare coverage through Access Health CT in 2017.

On Saturday, November 18, Access Health CT held its second enrollment fair in Manchester. Over 100 people attended and enrolled in healthcare coverage for 2018 at that event.

“My experience [on November 18] was surprising," AHCT consumer John M. said in a release. "That would be the word that I would choose. I was all prepared for a long wait and people. Everyone was so friendly and helpful – it was just amazing – it didn’t take long at all. It was a wonderful wonder, five-star, experience.”

If consumers are unable to attend the enrollment fair in New London on Saturday, they can find free in-person help at one of AHCT’s ten enrollment locations, or at the other two enrollment fairs.

“This Open Enrollment has seen a steady stream of consumers shopping for coverage since day one,” Wadleigh said in a release. “We’re going to continue reaching out to consumers across the state through events like these enrollment fairs, by directing people to our ten enrollment locations, and through marketing and community outreach.”

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16

Eastern Connecticut State University Library – Johnson Room (268 High Street, Willimantic, CT 06226)

To enroll, consumers must provide the following information:

• Birthdates
• Social Security Numbers
• VISA, Green Cards, or immigration documents
• Most recent tax returns
• Recent paychecks or profit and loss statement, if self-employed
• Information about your current employer
• Current health care coverage information
