Firefighter Injured, At Least 7 Displaced In New London Blaze

NEW LONDON, CT — A firefighter was injured battling a blaze Monday morning, according to New London Firefighters Local 1522.

The fire was reported just after 10 a.m. at 18 Gorton St.

Firefighters arrived to find fire visible from the top floor and a second alarm was transmitted.

A firefighter was transported to the hospital but has since been released.

The fire marshal's office is investigating.

At least seven people were displaced due to the fire, according to The Day of New London. A fire official said the extent of damage to the two-apartment home is not yet known.
