Five Star Performance, By Lita Ford at the Wolf Den May 17, 2014 By Christopher Annino
Lita Ford http://litafordonline.com/ is a super nova of talent, her skill is beyond the capabilities of your average musician. A lot of people say she is the best female guitarists of all time I strongly disagree with this statement. Lita Ford is one of the greatest musicians of all time and that is a fact. Her music versatility is beyond the norm. Lita is almost a virtuoso on anything she plays. When she plays it’s from the heart and that is very evident.
When Lita was a teenager she had a chance to fine tune her musical talents by being in the first all-girl rock band “The Runaways.” Fellow band alum for “The Runaways” include Sandy West on drums, Joan Jett on guitar, Cherrie Currie on vocals and several alternating bass players such as Vickie Blue, Jackie Fox, Laurie Hoyt-mc Allister, and Michelle Steele who later went on to play for “The Bangles.”
Lita went on to have a successful solo career and she had blossomed as a guitarist gaining respect from numerous musicians. Lita had a great deal of success when teaming up with Ozzy Osbourne with their trademark balled “Close My Eyes Forever.” Lita took some time off and made a comeback when she was featured on Dee Sniders a Twisted Christmas. That helped kick start her solo career again and she released “Wicked Wonderland” in 2009 however she has a more recent album out “Living Like a Runaway” which seems to demonstrate more inner emotion. Lita wrote a song titled “Mother” and the lyrics are earthshattering. Lita may play power chords but as a writer she writes power lyrics.

Many people throughout the Tri-State Area flocked to see her that night. Amongst those in the crowd were the band Sinner https://www.facebook.com/sinnersinc333 who expressed the great respect they have for this music icon. Lita walked on stage and banged out her own vintage version of “The Bitch is Back” which was originally written and performed by Sir Elton John. However Lita added a much more edgy in your face and fun approach to it. Her concert was interesting because normally a musician in comparison is like a baseball pitcher they usually don’t give their opponent or in this case the audience their best stuff in the beginning. However every song was a five star performance. Not only were the songs powerful but you could tell Lita was in her comfort zone on that stage.
Her band that she has consists of Marty O'Brien on bass, Mitch Perry on guitar, and Bobby Rock on drums. They are able to both demonstrate high energy and effortless skill as musicians. There was not a person in that building that was sitting down. For the whole concert she had the audience up out of their seats. When she sang “Close My Eyes Forever” the audience assisted her in the parts where Ozzy sang. You know when you made an impact in music when the audience can recite one of your songs word for word. I knew Lita was good but I would have to say after 10 years of journalism this was by far the greatest concert I have ever been to. I have witnessed Kiss, Rob Zombie, Rod Stewart perform but none of them had such a impact and wide array of talent that Lita dispensed that night. Lita Ford managed to render the crowd speechless but at the same time inject feelings and emotions that the audience absorbed. Checkout “Living Like A Runaway” http://litafordonline.com/
