Former Navy Member Charged With Child Exploitation Was Stationed in New London

The man is accused of enticing minors to share sexually explicit videos via chat.

A federal grand jury has indicted a former U.S. Navy member who was stationed in New London with enticing minors to perform sexually explicit acts.

Adam Simpson, 28, was indicted by a jury sitting in New Haven on March 24. He was arraigned April 6 in Hartford.

The indictment charges Simpson with engaging in explicit video chats with minors between about January and November 2013. He would sometimes pretend to be a younger male, according to the indictment.

He allegedly coerced minors to perform more sexual acts by threatening to publicly release their previous explicit photos.

He also allegedly downloaded child pornography over the Internet onto his computer.

Simpson faces a mandatory minimum imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum term of life for the enticement charge. Receipt of child pornography carrie with it a mandatory minimum imprisonment of five years.
