Former Superintendent An Official New London Board Of Education Candidate

A former New London school superintendent​ became an official candidate for the Board of Education​ this week.

NEW LONDON, CT - Former School Superintendent Manuel Rivera became an official candidate for the Board of Education on Monday, the New London Day reported. He is currently working as a consultant after retiring last month.

Officials said Rivera was one of two names submitted to the city clerk by the Democratic Town Committee Chairman, according to the New London Day. The committee is looking to fill vacancies on the Democratic slate of school board candidates. Rivera cited both his knowledge of the district and relationships at the state level as a potential asset in this role, the New London Day reported. The district is currently being run by Interim Superintendent Stephen Tracy.
