Good Samaritan Credited With Catching Purse Snatcher: Police

A man who allegedly stole a woman's purse Tuesday has been arrested.

NEW LONDON, CT - A good Samaritan is credited for helping police catch a man who stole a woman's purse. Police received a call at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday regarding an incident in which a female walking in the area of 70 State St. was approached by an unknown male who forcibly stole her purse.

The suspect was then reported to have fled the area on foot afterwards. A good Samaritan gave chase while talking to police on his cell phone and providing the suspect’s description and direction of travel.

Michael Albert, 39, of New London, was arrested and charged with third-degree larceny, third-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, and breach of peace, according to police.
