Groton Man Charged In New London Stabbing: Police
A Groton man confessed to stabbing a man in New London, saying "the conflict was over personal property," according to police.
NEW LONDON, CT — A Groton man has been arrested in connection with a New London stabbing, according to state police.
Troopers responded to the area of Williams Street under the Gold Star Bridge in New London for a reported stabbing Tuesday at 1:14 p.m.
Local police arrived ahead of troopers and assisted a man who had suffered multiple stab wounds. The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

State police identified a suspect in the stabbing as Richard Nieves, 55, of Groton. Detectives found Nieves at a home in Groton City where they say he confessed to the stabbing and "explained the conflict was over personal property."
He was charged with second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. Nieves was held on $50,000 bond and scheduled for arraignment in New London Superior Court on Thursday.
