Health Officials Close Green Harbor Beach
The Ledge Light Health District has closed Green Harbor Beach for swimming and wading due to "persistent," higher than acceptable bacteria.
NEW LONDON, CT—The Ledge Light Health District conducted bathing water sampling on Monday July 22 and all beach samples except Green Harbor Beachin New London were below the bacterial action levels set by the state.
The area of the beach with elevated bacterial counts was retested Wednesday July 24 and the results showed elevated that the high bacteria levels persisted.
The area has been posted closed, and swimming or wading in these waters is restricted until further notice.

The good news for East Lyme is the Giants Neck Heights beach swimming ban has been lifted and is cleared for swimming.
