Juvenile Charged In Shooting: New London Police

A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that triggered a lockdown at a local school.

NEW LONDON, CT — Police have arrested a juvenile in connection with a shooting incident that triggered a lockdown at New London High School Multi Magnet Campus earlier this month. Police received a report of four juveniles shooting off a gun in a parking lot at 11:17 a.m., March 9 in the area of 80 Ledge Road.

A witness reported observing three gunshots being fired in the parking lot near a wooded area. Police responded and searched for the people involved.

The nearby New London High School Multi Magnet Campus was put into lockdown "out of an abundance of caution," according to police. The lockdown was lifted at 12:30 p.m.

Police arrested a 17-year-old Thursday in connection with the shooting. The male was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

The investigation into the shooting remains active.
