Major Bridge Project To Include Lane Closures, Delays On I-95 In New London, Groton
A $900 million project to rehabilitate the Gold Star Memorial Bridge begins this week, according to the DOT.
NEW LONDON, CT — A state Department of Transportation project on I-95 in both directions will affect those traveling on the Gold Star Memorial bridge.
Those traveling the bridge, which connects New London and Groton, should expect delays.
Alternating lane closures will be in effect Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Work on the southbound side of the bridge was expected to begin Monday night between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Work on the northbound side of the bridge is estimated to start May 9.

Drivers are advised to reduce speed and follow posted signage.
The major bridge rehabilitation project has a cost of $900 million and is expected to continue through fall 2030.
