Man Burglarizes New London Restaurant, Steals Empty Cash Register

Police are searching for a suspect accused of breaking into a restaurant and stealing an empty cash register.

NEW LONDON, CT — Police said that an unidentified man swiped an empty cash register after breaking into the Hot Rod Cafe early Sunday morning, according to The Day. Police responded to the call at 4:15 a.m. and found a door at the Bank Street restaurant's rear had been smashed.

Hot Rod Cafe posted on Facebook: "Burglar smashed a glass door at Hot Rods about an hour ago and grabbed a cash register drawer (empty) and ruined a monitor connected to it. Fortunately we have an alarm system and cameras. NLPD responded quickly and professionally, thanks for that. Pretty sure the person will be caught. If you saw anything or hear anything or see someone with low intelligence carrying a cash drawer with wires hanging off, let me know. Other downtown businesses beware and set your alarms."

The restaurant also posted footage of the burglary on its Facebook page.
