Man Charged In New London Homicide: Police

A man has been charged in connection with a fatal assault.

NEW LONDON, CT — A Norwich man has been charged in connection with a fatal assault over the summer, according to police. Police received a call June 8 at 9:02 p.m. reporting an assault on a male victim at 19 Chester St. #2 in New London.

Police found the victim, Brad Bucacci, 38, was not breathing. He was transported and later pronounced dead.

The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the death was caused by blunt injury to the neck.

Police charged Zachary Perkins, 33, of 670 W. Main St., in connection with the crime. Perkins told police that he assaulted the victim and delayed calling 911.

Perkins was charged Tuesday with second-degree manslaughter, cruelty to persons, and third-degree assault. He was held on $100,000 bond.
