Man Fatally Shot In New London, Police Say

Police said there is an active investigation ongoing.

NEW LONDON, CT — The New London Police Department responded to a shots fired call for service on Connecticut Avenue between Prest Street and McDonald Street at 7:19 p.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremity, police said. Officers immediately rendered medical aid on the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival, police said.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending proper notification of next of kin. The New London Police Department’s Detective Division has assumed the investigation, which remains active and ongoing. Detectives are processing evidence and canvassing the area.
