Man Shot In New London Convenience Store In Critical Condition: Police

A man was shot in a convenience store early Wednesday morning and is in critical condition.

NEW LONDON, CT — Police are investigating after a man was shot in a convenience store. Police responded to 1 Ocean Ave. on a report of a person shot at 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers arrived and found evidence of the initial report inside the store. The victim had been driven away from the scene before officers arrived.

The victim initially went to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The 19-year-old victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and is listed in critical condition.

Police said three male suspects fled on foot and are wanted for questioning.

The incident does not appear to be a random act, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
