Man Stole Running Car, Passenger Forced Out At Gunpoint: New London Police

The victim told police that their car had been running after they entered a store and that it was stolen while a friend was in the car.

NEW LONDON, CT — A New London man stole a car parked outside a gas station and forced out a passenger at gunpoint, police said.

Police responded to a report of a stolen car at the Gulf station convenience store at 290 Broad St. on Jan. 23 at 1:37 a.m.

The victim told police that their car had been running after they entered the store and that it was stolen while a friend was in the car.

Video footage from the store and the surrounding area revealed a masked person stole the car after exiting another car that had abruptly entered the gas station lot.

The passenger in the stolen car was then forced out at gunpoint a short distance from the gas station, according to police.

Police identified a suspect using video evidence from the scene of the crime.

Police arrested Immanuell Thomas-Brown, 21, of New London, on Tuesday. He was charged with first-degree robbery, larceny of a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving.

The investigation remains ongoing.
