Man Struck Woman In Head With Gun: New London Police

A shot was fired during the incident, according to police.

NEW LONDON, CT — A Norwich man is accused of hitting a woman in the head with a gun last week in New London, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Eastern Avenue and Adelaide Street around 6:50 a.m. on April 10 on the report of a man hitting a woman with a gun.

Officers found that the woman had been struck in the head with an object that was reported to be a gun, and that a shot was fired during the incident, according to police.

Police said the victim wasn’t struck by the gunshot.

Evidence was collected at the scene, and the victim was hospitalized with injuries that police said weren’t life-threatening.

Maaseiyah Williams Jr., 27, was arrested early Wednesday morning on a warrant in connection with the incident, according to police.

He was charged with first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment. He was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
