Mayor of New London Addresses LGBT Issues
The Mayor of New London announces his support of LGBTQ individuals.

NEW LONDON, CT - From the City of New London: The City of New London and our close neighbor, Groton, are honored and proud to be the home to the United States Coast Guard Academy and the United States Navy Submarine Base. We are fortunate to have a diverse group of military personnel to include transgender service men and women. We also take great pride to be the home to one of the world’s largest military ship builders “General Dynamics” (Electric Boat) that employs many veterans who support our nation’s defense industry through the design and the production of submarines. Transgender individuals are valued members of our community and the armed services and deserve our respect and complete support. LGBTQ individuals contribute impressively in all facets of our community and country and should not be excluded in any way from military service or from the community because of their gender identity.
As the Mayor of New London, our city will make every reasonable effort to support this minority group from such unfair discrimination. We will partner with local organizations like Out-CT who are committed to the equality for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer community. The City of New London is committed to fundamental fairness and we embrace and celebrate our diversity and we are not a
community that views our differences as liabilities, but as gifts.
