Mom, Aunt Charged In Assault Of Girl: New London Police
A 13-year-old girl was assaulted by a group. Her mother and her aunt along with 10 juveniles are facing charges, police said.
NEW LONDON, CT â A 13-year-old girl's mother and aunt are facing charges after the teen was assaulted by a group late last month, according to police. Ten juveniles were also charged.
Police said they received a report April 30 of a video being circulated on social media showing a juvenile victim being assaulted by a family member and the victim's boyfriend.
Police began an investigation and found that the assault occurred April 29 at 6:10 p.m. in the parking lot of a Colman Street business.

The video shows the juvenile victim's aunt and a group of juveniles assaulting the victim or watching the assault "over an extended period of time," according to police. The victim's mother was present for the assault, and police said an investigation found she was involved in planning the assault.
The mother was charged with cruelty to persons, risk of injury to a minor, second-degree reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit third-degree assault, second-degree conspiracy BOP, and first-degree conspiracy to commit unlawful restraint.

The aunt was charged with cruelty to persons, risk of injury to a minor, second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, first-degree conspiracy to commit unlawful restraint, and second-degree breach of peace.
Both were held on $100,000 bond and transported to New London Superior Court on Monday.
A 15-year-old faces numerous charges including third-degree assault, fourth-degree sexual assault, and second-degree strangulation.
Another juvenile, age 12, was also charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor, cruelty to persons, and other charges.
Eight other juveniles, all ages 12 and 13, were charged with conspiracy to commit risk of injury to a minor and conspiracy to commit cruelty to persons.
The juveniles will all be summoned to appear in juvenile court.
