Nearby Shooting Locks Down New London High School: Police
The New London High School Multi Magnet Campus was temporarily shut down "out of an abundance of caution," according to police.
NEW LONDON, CT — A nearby shooting temporarily locked down the New London High School Multi Magnet Campus on Thursday morning, according to police.
Police received a report around 11:15 a.m. of four juveniles shooting off a gun in the parking lot of the area of 80 Ledge Rd. A witness reported seeing three gunshots being fired in the parking lot near a wooded area, according to police.
New London officers responded to the scene, canvassed the area, and searched for the suspects involved, police said.

The New London High School Multi Magnet Campus is close to 80 Ledge Rd. where the reported shooting took place, according to police.
“Out of an abundance of caution and for the safety of all students and staff the New London High School Multi Magnet Campus was initially put into a lockdown and then a secure building, which was subsequently lifted at approximately 12:30 p.m.,” police wrote in a news release. “The investigation into the shooting remains active. A lockdown is when students and staff remain in place within the school building.

“A secure building is when students and staff resume classes, however the campus is locked preventing individuals from entering and/or leaving.”
